Catalysis by calcium ion of the reoxidation of reduced PQQ by molecular oxygen

Abstract

Reoxidation of reduced PQQ to the quinone by molecular oxygen is enhanced drastically by Ca 2+ , the interaction of which has been recently demonstrated to exist in the enzyme active site by the X-ray crystallographic analysis of quinoprotein methanol dehydrogenase.
