Preparation and crystal structure of a stable and persistent twisted tetraketene

Abstract

Thermolysis of bis(cyclobutenedione) 8 leads to the tetraketene 7, whose X-ray structure confirms the twisted arrangement of the adjacent Kenetyl groups predicted by theory.
