[NiL][L =^–SCH₂CH₂N(Et) CH₂ CH₂ CH₂N(Et) CH₂ CH₂S^–] 1 reacts with [Fe₄S₄I₄]^2– to afford [(NiL)₂Fe₄S₄I₂] 3; in 3 the two fragments of 1 are doubly bridged viaµ-sulfur of L to iron atoms of the [Fe₄S₄] core.
