Construction of unusual metal clusters using dicarbon (C2) as a collar. Examples based on permetallabicyclo[2.2.0]hexane frameworks

Abstract

The pentanuclear C2 complex [Ru55-C2)(µ-SMe)2(µ-PPh2)2(CO)11]1 is a source of novel cluster frameworks which incorporate the C2 ligand as a collar; this is exemplified by the structures of [FeRu56-C2)(µ-SMe)2(µ-PPh2)2(CO)14]2 and [Co4Ru510-C2)(µ3-SMe)2(µ-PPh2)2(µ-CO)7(CO)11]4, obtained from reactions between 1 and [Fe2(CO)9] or [Co2(CO)8], respectively.
