Air-oxidation of gold metal in polybenzimidazole solution

Abstract

Gold(0) has been found to dissolve in polybenzimidazole solution under extremely mild conditions resulting in a polymeric ‘gel’ with gold(I) and gold(III) cations acting as chain bridging sites.
