Synthesis of a tetranuclear chromium(III) complex containing a central µ4-oxo and two-µ3-sulphato ligands: X-ray crystal structure of [Ph4P]3[Cr4O(µ3-SO4)3(µ-Cl)5Cl4]·MeCN

Abstract

A tetranuclear chloroanion of chromium(III) has been synthesised by the non-aqueous reduction of dichromate in the presence of thionyl chloride; X-ray diffraction reveals a novel structure containing a µ4-oxo and two µ3-sulphato ligands.
