Flow apparatus for monitoring dissolution rate curves using ion-exchange resins. Part I. Phosphite dissolution rate curve
Abstract
A flow injection method is described for the determination of the metal ion content of aqueous solutions using a pH electrode and an ion-exchange resin. The method is reasonably accurate and reproducible; it is also rapid and simple, and requires inexpensive instrumentation. The method can be used at low pH values and over a wide range of metal ion concentrations. It is particularly useful for monitoring the dissolution rate curves of salts in relatively strong acidic solutions, and provides rate curves which are accurate within a relatively short time. The method can be used for the selective monitoring of one metal ion in the presence of other metal ions.
