Determination of indium in a matrix of cadmium, mercury and tellurium by ion-exchange chromatography and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry

Abstract

A method is described for the ion-exchange separation on a single column of microgram and sub-microgram amounts of indium from a matrix consisting of gram amounts of cadmium, mercury and tellurium and subsequent measurement of the indium by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The sensitivity and precision obtained, and the inherent possibility of considerable sample pre-concentration, make the technique suitable for the determination of indium in real Hg0.8Cd0.2 Te (CMT) samples.
