The spiro intermediate proposed for biosynthesis of the natural porphyrins: synthesis and properties of its macrocycle

Abstract

Two structures have been synthesised containing the novel macrocycle on which is based the hypothetical spiro-intermediate for biosynthesis of the natural porphyrins; the strongly puckered conformation of the macrocycle is known by X-ray structure analysis.
