Octahedrally co-ordinated zinc and cadmium compounds with five-membered heterocyclic OS3N2 ligands

Abstract

The compounds [M(OS3N2)6][AsF6]2(M = Zn or Cd) have been prepared in which the metal atoms are co-ordinated by six five-membered heterocyclic ligands. The molecular and crystal structures were determined by X-ray analysis. The metal is bonded to each ligand via the exocyclic oxygen atom, giving a slightly distorted octahedral environment. The S3N2 rings have an envelope conformation where the S atom connected to the oxygen is out of the plane formed by the other four atoms. The AsF6 group is slightly disordered in the cadmium compound, considerably disordered in the zinc compound.
