Oxytetracycline biosynthesis: origin of the carboxamide substituent

Abstract

Biosynthetic labelling studies using 13C n.m.r. spectroscopy have demonstrated the direct incorporation of [1,2,3-13C3]malonate into carbons-1,2 and the carboxamide substituent of oxytetracycline.
