Preparation and X-ray crystal structures of copper(I) complexes of the S3N ion

Abstract

The first complexes of copper(I) and silver(I) with the S3N ligand have been prepared by the reaction of PPN+S2N with copper(I) chloride or silver nitrate in acetonitrile; the X-ray crystal structures of PPN+Cu(S3N)2, (Ph3P)2Cu(S3N), and PPN+ClCu(S3N) show that the bidentate S3N ligand is bonded to the metal through two sulphur atoms in these complexes.
