Structurally adaptable chain silicates

Abstract

A new approach to the interpretation of the structures of single-chain silicates is proposed, which rationalises the relationships between known regular structures and the occurrence of recently discovered defective structures in the pyroxenoid family (MSiO3) and also predicts new structures.
