Determination of the sign of the quadrupole coupling constant, e2qQ, in tin compounds by Mössbauer spectroscopy

Abstract

Theoretical spectra for the 119Sn Mössbauer resonance of tin compounds in a large external magnetic field are calculated. The spectra can be used to determine the sign of the quadrupole coupling constant, e2qQ, and are insensitive to small values of the asymmetry parameter.
