Active-site-directed inhibition of triosephosphate isomerase

Abstract

Bromohydroxyacetone phosphate, a close analogue of the substrate dihydroxyacetone phosphate, rapidly and specifically inactivates triosephosphate isomerase leading to the incorporation of one mole of inhibitor per enzyme subunit of molecular weight 25,000.
