The direct synthesis of β-hydroxy-acids by a modified reformatskii reaction

Abstract

β-Hydroxy-acids are obtained in good yields when suspensions of the zinc complexes, formed in Reformatskii reactions involving t-butyl esters, are heated in benzene.
