Aminosilane–iodosilane adducts

Abstract

Dimethylaminosilane with iodosilane forms a 1 : 1 adduct which slowly decomposes at room temperature and rapidly at 100° to give several products, but mainly the new compounds dimethylaminoidosilane and bis(dimethylamino)iodosilane. The 1 : 1 diethylaminosilane–iodosilane adduct also decomposes slowly at room temperature to give only diethylaminoiodosilane and silane. The decomposition of other adducts is also reported, and the steric effects of the various amines in determining the products are discussed. The infrared spectra of the decomposition products and some of their derivatives are described.
