Cross-phenomenological coefficients. Part 7.—Electrophoresis and sedimentation potential

Abstract

Techniques for the measurement of electrophoretic velocity and sedimentation potential in Pyrex + water system are described. The thermodynamic theory developed by de-Groot, Mazur and Overbeek has been discussed. The cross-phenomenological coefficients have been estimated. The domain of validity of linear phenomenological relations has also been ascertained. The Onsager's reciprocal relation is found to be valid within experimental error.
