Individual Legal and Ethical Responsibilities for Environmental Safety

17 February 2006

Chemists need to understand the general principles of environmental law. They also need to be aware of environmental impacts that may arise from their work activities and their use of chemicals. The law places specific duties on organisations and some individuals with regard to the protection of the environment.

The purpose of this Note is to provide chemists with general information about their legal and ethical responsibilities in relation to environmental protection. It does not give specific practical examples.
