Why do we worry about Chemicals?

17 April 2009

Everything is made of chemicals. Chemicals can bring great benefits to society. However, every chemical can be dangerous if used in the wrong way.

The RSC believes that many of the concerns people have about chemicals are legitimate and that some are well founded.

However, the RSC also believes that chemical risks can be adequately controlled - and usually are - and that without chemicals modern life would not be possible. Balancing the control of chemical risk against the benefits of chemicals to society is complex.
