ChemComm, making an impact in Korea

16 December 2008

Following the success of the first ChemComm  International Symposium, the second symposium was held in Korea in November 2008. These meetings focused on supramolecular chemistry, and were well attended at the symposium venues: Yonsei in Seoul, KAIST in Daejeon; and Postech in Pohang. The symposium included a mix of international and Korean speakers.

The aim of the ChemComm symposium was to bring together scientists in a stimulating and friendly environment that will foster collaborations between the researchers and the universities involved. A new feature for the second symposium were one hour poster sessions on each of the three days. They were very popular with a high number of poster submissions, and prizes were awarded at each location for the best poster.

Sarah Thomas, editor of ChemComm,  commented on the symposium - "the scientific quality of the talks and the posters was a real highlight for me, they were all excellent." Professor Jonathan Sessler, associate editor for ChemComm, also highlighted contributions from some of his Korean group members in his talk.

The ChemComm  team looks forward to the third symposium which will take place in China, 16th-20th February 2009.
