Symposium Information
One of the major challenges in the twenty-first century is the development of cleaner, sustainable sources of energy. For the next generation of energy conversion and storage technologies, the discovery and optimisation of high performance materials are critical to future breakthroughs.
This symposium is a timely opportunity to highlight some of the latest fundamental and applied research in this important field (with potential portable device, hybrid vehicle and stationary applications). A rich variety of themes will be covered including:
- Ionic conductors and electrode materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), polymer-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells and solid acid fuel cells
- Novel electrode and electrolyte materials for rechargeable lithium batteries
- Transport and defect phenomena in ionic- and mixed-conducting oxides and polymers
- Nanostructured lithium battery materials and surface properties
- Advanced synthesis and characterisation techniques (e.g. neutron diffraction; microscopy; electrochemical; materials modelling)
